What may seem like the idyllic setting for a wedding, Goldsborough Hall in fact makes the perfect location to take your mother for afternoon tea. Included in the price is a tour of the glorious gardens, so if your mum is a ‘greenfinger’ at heart, this could be the one for her!
You can choose to be seated in the Jacobean Library, Princess Mary’s drawing room or (weather permitting!) on the terrace, to while away an afternoon alongside delicious finger sandwiches, fresh scones, a sumptuous selection of cakes and of course your choice of Taylor’s of Harrogate tea and coffee. Add a glass or two of bubbly and all you need to do is hope for some sunshine!
Afternoon tea for non-residents is £25 per person.
Situated a little drive north east of Harrogate, The Black Swan at Helmsley makes for a quintessentially British location for afternoon tea, nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire Moors.
The Black Swan is a four-star boutique hotel filled with character and the market town of Helmsley is equally as charming. Their afternoon tea has the usual delicious finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a selection of cakes all served on bone china and accompanied by your favourite hot bevvy. Find a cosy armchair in the award-winning tearoom or choose to sit in the lounge or Cygent Bar. Fizz optional!
Afternoon tea is £19.95 per person.
The award-winning Rudding Park Hotel is a Grade I listed Regency house situated just outside Harrogate and features a hotel, spa and golf course. You and your mum can enjoy views over 300 stunning acres of parkland, as well as a stroll through beautiful gardens.
You can treat your mum to Mother’s Day Champagne Afternoon Tea and indulge in traditional sandwiches, cakes (including rhubarb and macaroon delights!) and of course homemade scones. Don’t forget the glass of fizz to make her feel extra special.
Afternoon tea is £34.50 per adult.
Is your mum a fashionista? Why not take her for a browse around one of Harrogate’s finest boutiques, the Snooty Frox? Labelled one of the UK’s ‘Most Inspiring Independent Boutiques’, it provides a fashion experience with a difference, offering over 50 designer labels to explore. Once she’s all shopped out, head upstairs to the Wild Plum coffee shop for a spot of afternoon tea.
All the delights are prepared and baked in the coffee shop, having been sourced locally. You and your mum can opt for traditional afternoon tea with a choice of two sandwich fillings each as well as a trio of homemade mini cakes and delicious home baked scones. You can also upgrade to the fizz option where you’ll each get a glass of prosecco and fresh strawberries.
Afternoon Tea is £16.95 per person, or £24 for the champagne upgrade. (NB. Not available on Mother’s Day due to their being a delicious set menu option instead).
With a 200-year old history The Old Swan is one of Harrogate’s most famous hotels, earning itself a name for being the setting for Agatha Christie’s crime-writing in the 1920s. Situated just a short walk from the town centre, you and your mum can enjoy beautiful lawns and gardens before you sit down for either Classic Cream Tea, Deluxe Afternoon Tea or Champagne Afternoon Tea.
Revel in delights such as cheddar and sweet pickle, smoked salmon and cream cheese finger sandwiches before tempting your taste buds with a chef’s selection of homemade cakes and fruit scones.
Afternoon Tea is £10 per person for Classic Cream Tea, £17.95 for Deluxe Afternoon Tea and £25 for Champagne Afternoon Tea.
