The open-plan living and dining area prior to the renovation:
The brief for this project was to create an inspirational space to suit the everyday needs of a professional couple who had very different visions for their dream kitchen. One half of the couple wanted everything big, from the kitchen island under the massive roof lantern, vast amounts of glazing around the kitchen, a huge TV and the heavy, industrial look of a Dekton breakfast bar combined with modern, ceramic doors.
The other half wanted a much softer kitchen space, so the compromise was the light polished worktop, a classy snakeskin effect Dekton breakfast bar, traditional buttoned bar stools with matching oversized button dining chairs. A bespoke circular dining table, complete with matching worktop, that sits beneath a large diamond light fixing, adding curves and a traditional touch to this modern, kitchen space.
The clean, linear lines and textured ceramic doors from our handless Next125 Ceramic Collection were the perfect choice for this kitchen as the modern door fronts also contain a brushed textured finish giving them a slightly natural touch. The bold stone texture of the kitchen doors is complemented and softened with the polished white quartz worksurface, highlighted with subtle grey veins, a worktop that is becoming an ever-increasing choice amongst our clients.
The main feature in this kitchen is the imposing island spanning more than five metres. This is the natural focal point within the kitchen as it dominates the spaces. The island is a practical cooking space with the induction hob, convenient downdraft extractor and Quooker boiling tap, but a social point within the home also. The raised Dekton worktop bar is softened by its contemporary snakeskin appearance perfect for informal meals like breakfast or a light lunch as well as a glass of wine while watching TV or a beer whilst enjoying the football. The large TV is housed within the home media centre, which contains an abundance of storage underneath and a light polished cladding to the inside of the wall to help bring light into a furniture heavy section of the room. The veined worktop sits behind the TV ensuring the classic polished worktop flows right through from the back of the media centre, across the island, to the bespoke dining table. The television is flanked by bespoke glass tambour units, illuminated with back lit L.E.D glass shelves and integrated plug sockets – these stylish cabinets also encompass substance for everyday use.
After seeing something similar in our Leeds showroom the tall appliance bank was a key part of the brief. The bank boasts our beautiful Miele Artline appliance range in graphite grey to compliment the graphite door fronts. The appliances include a Pyrolytic single oven, Combination oven/microwave and state of the art coffee machine. The grand aesthetic of this bank is enhanced further by perfect sightlines, expertly achieved by adding 150mm high warming drawers under the coffee machine and combination oven. Concealed behind the doors we have the integrated Miele freezer with automatic ice maker and integrated Miele fridge with the ‘Perfect Fresh Pro’ technology which allows food to stay fresh for up to 5 times longer than traditional fridges.
The dining table is a bespoke product envisioned by the client, which we had manufactured by stone masons. This 30mm matching quartz has a soft rolled edge profile, a profile usually reserved for more traditional kitchens, but as showcased perfectly here, it really offers a touch of warmth and sophistication into a very modern room setting.
The inspiration for this stunning space was gained by visiting our unique Leeds showroom. The build of the extension itself was carried out by our in-house building team and coupled with the large amounts of glazing from our sister Company Express Bi-Folding Doors soon became the perfect project to showcase the stunning kitchen extensions that we can create when we handle the full project from start to finish.
These homeowners really utilised everything they saw in our Leeds showroom and treated it as a one stop shop which led them to use the following Companies to transform this home into the inspirational space it is today. All of whom they first saw whilst visiting The Home Space from Express:
Resin Drives – Supplied the Resin driveway at the foot of the property.
Clearly Automated – Designed and installed the light control and Home Automation within the property.
KL Langton – Manufactured and fitted the decorative plasterwork coving around the kitchen and living area. And the bespoke coffer detail under the roof lantern and bespoke leg coverings for the dining table.
